Pool Bar Jim's is another tradition during my annual family trip to Hilton Head. Pool Bar Jim's is located at the Marriott Grande Ocean. Jim has a book that he created with tons--and I mean TONS--of drinks, most of them are frozen. Not all include alcohol. And I'm on a mission to try them all! The bartenders are awesome and friendly. Jim is always there and I recognized another guy from last year. And if you don't know what you want, they'll create something for you. Pool Bar Jim's is the perfect place to get a cool refreshing drink while you talk with friends and loved ones, or to take back to the pool while you lay out. I can't wait to try my next drink!

"I've been a patron of PBJ's for 15 years, since we bought our Marriott timeshare at Grande Ocean. Always enjoyed his great drinks and exotic selection. We just wrapped up our annual stay and this year he annoyed us - telling us we couldn't drink our own beer at the poolside - that we could only drink alcoholic beverages purchased from his bar! While we do our fair share of patronizing Pool Bar Jim's, we feel, as owners of a week at the resort, we should be able to drink or eat whatever we choose while sitting poolside (not at the bar or even near the bar). Beer is sold in the Marriott general store, so where do they think residents will drink it, and also sold poolside at events. Marriott management's opinion differed on this topic, depending on who we asked, so apparently there is some confusion about the rule. This was definitely a stain on our otherwise pleasurable week and certainly made us less inclined to patronize PBJ. Posting this late - we visited the resort last June!

We love this place! Perfect happy hour spot for sunset! Kinda pricey but worth it! I love the Lava Flows and my husband just has one of the guys make something different everytime.

YUM! I am so glad we found this place. I just had some of my sons (virgin) Cookies and Cream drink and it was AAA-Mazing! The drinks were HUGE (they actually split it in two cups). I think the prices are resaonable and the staff was super nice and helpful. I can't wait to go back and get a drink for myself. Hmmmm maybe a Pina Colada....or Strawberry Daquiri or a Mudslide ..... so many choices!

no better drink on the island. If you are not staying at Grand Ocean, just park across the street and walk over. worth.every.penny. As an added bonus, PBJ is the nicest guy on the planet.

I would have given it 5 stars if my husband didn't have to buy an extra shot of tequila to add to our Margaritas because they were so light weight. Great for the kids drinks and anything virgin. Any real drinkers beware!

Staying at a large resort like this, you usually assume overpriced smoothly-style drinks are all there will be. Boy were we surprised to see a stand alone establishment with a great staff and the owner who writes his own books about mixology. Every single drink is hand made in front of you and when they're not mixing drinks they are cutting the fresh fruit that goes into them. Prices are reasonable for the quality and they give you essentially one and a half when they serve you. Charging to your room available for convenience as well. Finally, great little seating area overlooking the beach. Check it out!

I got to experience PBJ's for the first time this summer while I was on vacation with Marriott regulars and the drinks speak for themselves. it turned into a daily ritual for a week as the drink book is extensive and the bar tenders can whip up anything that isn't in it. and everything is delicious. I couldn't ask for anything more on vacation than relaxing by the pool with one of their frozen drinks. Jim, Jon, Brendan, Jake - all very personable, all great guys, highly recommended.

Just came back from a family wedding in HH. We had visited PBJ's after reading the few reviews. OMG, Frozen Drink heaven! The frozen drink "bible" was somewhat overwhelming but worth looking through. I had the Dreamsicle as well as a Pina Colada with Amaretto floater (think toasted almond). Of course it's going to be pricey, on the beach and all, but we expected it so it didn't cloud our review. We ended up going back the next day. Jake, was our bartender both days, excellent service!!

Definitely the best frozen drink bar I have ever been to. Located in the Marriot's Grand Ocean Resort it is also open to the public. I love the idea of frozen drinks, but in all honesty they rarely taste as good as they look. Usually after one I feel full and a little sick, but that was not the case at Pool Bar Jim's. What makes the frozen drinks here so unique is that they use all fresh fruit. Literally they are throwing packages of berries and fresh cut pineapple in blenders with alcohol. No sticky sweet chemical tasting syrups here. The menu is HUGE, literally a binder, but really all you need to know is what fruit you like. Just pick a few of your favorites and tell them to make you a daiquiri. I did strawberry, raspberry, pineapple and watched the bartender put all my fresh fruits in the blender with rum and ice. He also added in a white powder substance and the scientist in me thought it was methocel or xanthan gum thickener, but thinking back, it was probably just sugar. I don't love the idea of added sugar, but it's definitely better than those pre mixed syrups. The best part is they make a whole blender of the drink of your choice, and pour you the whole thing into two solo cups. The drinks was $10, but you can really look at it as $5 a cup, which for the amount of fresh fruit that went in is definitely a deal. The drink tasted great and didn't leave me feeling sick and weighed down. It took me awhile to finish off both cups. A word of advice however: get there when they open. As the afternoon wears on the bar gets more and more crowded and the bartenders start to get a little slow. I can't blame them because it must get hot under than tiki hut, but for the best experience, go early.

If you like frozen drinks, this place is your HEAVEN. Suggested to me a little while back by a local, you cross the road from metered parking and walk towards the beach until you see the little bar near the showers to the left. The menu is mostly drinks and it looks like something written by George RR Martin. You'd think I'm kidding until you ask them to see it. The bartenders are super friendly and will chat you up while you chill out at the bar. The bar offers a gorgeous view of the beach and plenty of seating. If you're bringing a friend or a date, start yourself out deciding on one and ordering together because they will pour out two for you with every drink you order. Seriously, help yourself out and try the lava flow. It's fantastic! Mine was gone in less than 5 minutes.

The frozen drinks are out of this world good. The menu book is huge so many options to try! the atmosphere was so relaxed and fun with ocean and pool views. The people and the bartenders make this a place to sit and enjoy for hours! its a little hidden but worth the search!

Pool Bar Jim's (PBJs" as many refer to it) is a wonderful poolside and beachfront bar that always brings a smile to my face! They have amazing drinks from the typical margarita to their own custom drinks such as the infamous Lava Flow which has a yummy concoction of strawberries, coconut, rum and bananas all blended together. It has a beautiful red and white swirl which is almost too pretty to drink! My favorite part is you will always find Jim himself behind the bar mixing drinks for everyone! Always with a smile and a wildly colorful Hawaiian print shirt! Every year I get a new shirt, koozie, or hat because they change every time! This is also the highest revenue earning bar out of all Marriott sites which says a lot as well! The kids even can order non-alcoholic drinks and shirts say PBJ instead of Pool Bar Jim's!

PBJ was recommended to us by someone who used to live on the island and it didn't disappoint. Drinks are around $10 but you basically end up with two drinks because they give you everything in the blender. They were all made with real fruit and bartenders were helpful in suggesting drinks based on what you like.

Best place to get drinks on the island hands down. They use all fresh ingredients, no mixes, to make all of their drinks so you can imagine how amazing they taste. Their lava flow is what they are known for although they have a HUGE book of different drinks to choose from. Pool bar Jim's even uses a lot of exotic fruits which can be fun and exciting for a drink on the beach. The best part is that you are given the extras from the blender so you basically get 1 1/2 drinks; this is good since they are around $10 a drink (totally worth it). They have changed a lot since I was here last. There is a nice seating area and lounge chairs where you can enjoy your drinks and look at the beach/ocean. Worth the drive from anywhere on the island.

Always our favorite beach front bar whether staying on the property or not. Access is easy and drinks are delicious. Frozen drinks are great but my favorite is their Mojito. Always fantastic!

Jim is the man when it comes to frozen drinks by the beach Although I did feel overwhelmed when it came to the drink menu but the bartenders are beyond friendly enough to find something for you. They make big portions so basically you get a big glass and a smaller one to share

I can't believe that I am the first one to write a review on this place. This place was recommended by a local friend and I am glad he did. It's located oustide of the Marriott and we rode our bikes right up to the place. You do not need to be a Marriott guest. After having drinks earlier at Frosty Frog and Tiki Hut I was looking for a chill place with decent drinks. When I approached the bar they had an extensive book of drinks to choose from. It was a bit overwhelming and so I just ordered a pina colda. It was the best frozen drink I had in HHI. The bartenders always make too much and give you a drink and a half which was a nice touch. I could have spent all day there sipping away my troubles.
